Preparing to travel to the US

Plan medical visits, birth attendance, and document procedures separately.

Purpose and attendance requirements

Consultations, examinations, procedures, birth, and document work may have different dates and institutions. Ask each responsible party about required tasks, personal attendance, and current appointment status.

When combining tasks, verify each date and condition and allow travel and processing time.

Appointments, documents, and bookings

Check medical, legal, and travel requirements separately.

  • Medical: date, time zone, exact address, participants, and preparation.
  • Legal/documents: what to sign or bring and whether remote handling is possible.
  • Travel: visas, admission, transit, and carrier requirements.

Book transport and accommodation after confirming appointments and attendance. Check cancellation, changes, and extension terms and retain contacts.

Documents and backups

Organize travel, medical, and legal documents by recipient. Ask airlines or authorities, clinicians, and attorneys about versions, originals, translations, and submission.

Raise inconsistent names, birth dates, or other details in advance. Keep protected backups and replacement contacts. Use approved channels for medical and identity records.

Local transport and contact

Choose accommodation and transport around the actual appointment location. Check entrances, local hours, and holidays.

  • Ensure your phone receives appointments and changes.
  • Save clinical, project, attorney, insurance, and hospital contacts.
  • Agree cross-time-zone availability and backup channels.
  • Ask the medical institution about interpretation requirements in advance.

Use clinical channels for medical questions and local emergency services for urgent matters.

Flexible birth travel

Birth timing, infant health, and documents affect the stay. Attendance, accompaniment, rooms, and handover follow hospital rules and consent.

Ask about extended stays, infant accommodation, and practical facilities. For early birth or delayed discharge, first adjust care to medical advice, then travel and lodging. Readiness to travel depends on clinical advice and documents.

Return travel and later contacts

Before returning, check:

  • Medical: discharge, follow-up, and travel advice.
  • Documents: parentage, registration, and applicable travel documents.
  • Transport: airline, destination, and transit requirements.
  • Follow-up: contacts for outstanding bills, documents, and replacements.

Some work may continue after departure. Keep receiving methods, correspondence address, and outstanding document lists. Authorities confirm admission and document requirements.
